Alan Wake is scary at points, but I wouldn't go as far as calling it a horror game. The box promises a "psychological action thriller", which is exactly what it delivers.
Read MoreRant-Review: Prince of Persia: Forgotten Sands
Rule of thumb when making a video game is to have a reason for making the game. This is the problem with The Forgotten Sands: it doesn't have one. There is no legitimate reason for its existence, and this irks me greatly.
Read MoreReview: Left 4 Dead 2: The Passing DLC
While the story of The Passing doesn’t pack the dramatic punch I was hoping for, the campaign is still an excellent slew of set pieces, extra content and hidden treats. Steam user will get The Passing for free but even for 560 Microsoft Points it’s a worthy purchase.

Read MoreReview: Pokemon Heart Gold/Soul Silver
The familiar storyline coupled with the highly addictive game play are likely to keep the average player spell-bound for large periods of time. However, delve beneath its shiny exterior and you’ll find an uninspired and sub-par remake of one of the series strongest titles.

Once you get over the feeling of familiarity Bioshock 2 really flourishes, taking everything that was great about the prequel and adding a few tweaks for good measure.

Read MoreReview: Vancouver 2010
Vancouver 2010 is a step in the right direction for winter sport simulators but the lack of a career mode and the boring gameplay mechanics turns the game very much into a short-lived experience that's not worth more than a rent.

It’s sad, but it’s true: The Saboteur was a disappointing end to a respectable career.

While at first it's an interesting, exciting puzzle-shooter hybrid experience, it slowly transforms into a weary battle between you and the game's awkward level design and fairly inaccurate aiming system.
Read MoreReview: Tekken 6 [PSP]
Tekken 6 feels like the summation of the last decade's work and the most complete fighter around. It is not going to have the same impact that Tekken 3 did ten year's ago, but Tekken 6 is still a massive return to form for the series and confirmation that the fighting game renaissance is more than just a Street Fighter induced fad.

Even though Assassin's Creed 2 is a clear improvement on its prequel, it's held back by so many problems that shouldn't be there.

It's the fact that Valve made Left 4 Dead 2 with you in mind, tapping into your psychology and using it against you, that makes it such a great game.

Read MoreReview: Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard
A video game that parodies other video games? I was intrigued too. Not a game with massive publicity or massive appeal, Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard is a third person shooter that seems to have been made purely to mock other games. It’s a simplistic, fairly rudimentary shooter that shines more in its storytelling than its core gameplay, but even then, it’s not a masterpiece. Matt Hazard is a failing video game character, who...

Rocksteady have delivered a stellar title that raises the bar for other superhero games to reach. I’ve found myself in a bit of a pickle while writing this. After getting my hands on a copy of Arkham Asylum and finally getting the chance to sit down and really take it in, I found myself getting deeply immersed in the world of Batman. I think the reason why though was that this particular Batman adaptation doesn’t follow code:...

Despite this game having the pitfall of being a movie-game tie-in, it manages not to fall in… just… This game (and its film counterpart) is a direct follow on from the last one, which in its own right was a fantastic piece of cinematogra- bah! It sees Shia LeBeouf, in the form of a teenager who has somehow struck gold and wound up with a girl considered by most to be the most attractive woman in the world, helping robots who...
Read MoreReview: X-Men Origins: Wolverine (Uncaged Edition)
It’s common knowledge that games spawned from movies tend to suck. When X-Men Origins: Wolverine came along, the general consensus of the gaming public before playing this game was that it would follow tradition. But this game has an ace up its sleeve: it was developed before the film, in the more brutal and gory style that the film should have had. X-Men Origins: Wolverine is a rarity, a game that is better than its movie father. The...

Many players got a sample of what goes on in the mind of game designer Keita Takahashi when he released the lunatic and highly addictive...
