Machete
Robert Rodriguez’s Grindhouse action spoof starrs Danny Trejo as a former Mexican federale gone rogue. The eclectic cast that joins Trejo include the likes of Robert De Niro, Jeff Fahey, Steven Seagal, Cheech Marin, Jessica Alba and Michelle Rodriguez – pretty much anyone not in The Expendables, then. This should be a brilliant film – I hope so.
Social Network
I’m not interested in this film about the creation of Facebook, but I can appreciate this viral trailer – it’s quite cleverly done.
Dinner for Schmucks
This looks to exhibit some genuine comedy and both Steve Carrell and Paul Rudd are very strong comedic actors. It’s a good pairing, and I can see Dinner for Schmucks being an acceptable comedy made great by their partnership.
Sorcerer’s Apprentice
Nicolas Cage playing a magician in a Jerry Bruckheimer film? Expect lots of brilliant special effects, some great blockbuster action and a generally entertaining experience.
The Other Guys
Perhaps this will be the great buddy cop comedy Cop Out failed to be. Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg might not seem like a comedy duo but watch the trailer – everything seems to click. I sense this may lack the panache of previous Ferrell comedies like Anchorman, Talladega Nights and Step Brothers, but it looks to be a good laugh.
