Guy Ritchie’s version of Sherlock Holmes was released just under 6 months ago and it will be in just under 18 months from now when Robert Downey Jr will be on the silver screen again solving another mystery. It’s official release date is the 16th December 2011, which it slots it in quite nicely between Scorsese’s Hugo Cabret and Spielberg’s Tintin.
Little is known about the story and who will feature as the antagonist, so all we have to go on is speculation that Moriarty, who featured in the first Sherlock Holmes as a sort-of cameo role, may have a larger role in Sherlock Holmes 2. It has to be a safe bet to say that Ritchie, Downey Jr. and Jude Law will all reappear – who would play Moriarty though? Ben Kingsley perhaps?
Personally, I’d like to see an adaptation of something like The Hound of the Baskervilles or my personal favourite, The Red-Headed League, although that might (in this day and age) seem a little offensive…
